I am a freelance editor with a vision to help clients
express their ideas with clarity, order, and precision. I currently serve as the associate editor for the print edition of the Hyattsville Life & Times, an award-winning community newspaper (HL&T; Hyattsville, Maryland). I write editorials and news articles for both print and online editions. I have also worked as their copy editor. Additional recent projects are diverse and include writing candidate profiles for a boutique executive placement firm, serving on the editing team for a work of YA dystopian fiction, and editing a dissertation in the field of education.
I earned my bachelor’s degree at Williams College with a double major in English and psychology. I hold a Master of Arts/Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in school psychology from Tufts University. In my first career as a school psychologist, I wrote and copyedited numerous psychological reports and assessed the writing of students. My additional experience as a writing tutor to college students is invaluable as I approach academic texts. I’ve also worked as a teaching assistant (at Tufts University), a research assistant (at both Williams College and Harvard University), and an internet researcher (with Simon & Schuster).
A generalist by training and experience, I am comfortable working with a wide variety of texts, including fiction and nonfiction, academic papers, business publications, blogs, and so forth. I am very interested in e-publishing and in helping authors prepare their texts for self publication. My specific interests include YA dystopian fiction, autism spectrum disorders, and devotional writing.
